As we bid farewell to 2023, we're excited to share the highlights of our journey this year in unravelling the complexities of land conflicts across India.
#LandConflictWatch
2023 was a year of impactful research & storytelling at Land Conflict Watch. At the beginning of the year, we launched our LCW Community membership plan, offering exclusive access to quarterly reports and policy briefs.
Our commitment to transparency and engagement led to informative LCW Policy Talks with our contributing researchers. We delivered on promises: 3 quarterly reports, 10 policy briefs, 30 in-depth stories! Want to dive deeper? All reports at https://landconflictwatch.org/member-dashboard…
We expanded our reach, covering new regions from Kashmir to Assam, Haryana to Tamil Nadu, Manipur to Kerala, our team produced 30 in-depth stories & 20 research threads shedding light on how land issues affect countless lives across diff regions. Check https://landconflictwatch.org/stories
Kudos to researchers @mukta_jo
& @prudhvirr! Their G20 eviction report made it to @gijn’s top 10 Indian investigative stories.
#G20Summit revealed surge in demolitions, misused encroachment laws, intersection of land conflicts & govt actions affecting marginalised communities
Our core work? Documenting land conflicts. Over 100 new cases added in 2023, with updates on 33 ongoing disputes across 24 states. Our database delves into project delays, community impact, and the use of criminal law.
